Buying a home can be a big thrill. Thinking of all of the luxuries you will be able to have afterall, if it is your first home, such as your own washer and dryer is quite exciting! But then there is the lovely mortgage that comes along with home ownership which in most cases is quite a larger number than apartment or even renting would be. For once you are the sole one responsible for the place you call home!
Too many people who consider home ownership leave out the most important fact- what the mortgage will cost them. Sure, no one likes to be a pessimist and always think about the worst case scenario such as losing your job, becoming majorly ill, or having the unexpected come up such as a natural disaster. But then again if this does happen, many times the largest bill, the mortgage, can become the first one to neglect and be late on payments or even start missing payments…
Do you want try your best to avoid having this happen to you? Want to hear one simple tip that will help you?
Don’t Spend every last dime you have to buy a house.
AND…make sure you have enough money saved up to prevent several months of your mortagage if the unfortunate does happen and a crisis comes up.
Home ownership is not for everyone. But if you think it’s for you consider these following questions to decide if now is a good time for you to buy or if you should wait:
· Will any other payments I have (i.e. car payments, boat payments, timeshare payments) interfere with being able to comfortable afford the mortgage payment?
