As promised earlier in the week, here are some more ideas on how to inexpensively add more curb appeal to your home. Just to recap from earlier this week:
What is curb appeal? It's that something extra special about a home that makes you smile when you see it. It's a house that is pleasing to the eye and well groomed. It shows a sense of pride and ownership in your home. If you are considering selling your home consider this fact:
By taking some simple steps to boost curb appeal you could be increasing your home's value: A Gallup survey taken in 1999 found landscaping could add 7 to 15 percent to a home's value.
Use these tips below to help create more curb appeal if you are thinking of selling your home or just feel inspired to spruce up your home and create the image you have always really wanted. Here are some simple tips for adding curb appeal that are inexpensive and easy to do.
Consider the lighting:
Little things, such as the light fixtures (on the front of the garage, by the front door and pathway lights) can make a big difference. Replacing old, worn out or just outdated light fixtures on the front of your home can really help add to the curb appeal. An idea is to check out a neighbor's house who has light fixtures out front that you like and then copy them. This will also help to keep continuity within the neighborhood curb appeal.
Don't forget to tidy up:
Finally, don't forget this important task of tidying up and keeping a well groomed front exterior of your home. Just edging your lawn after you mow it can give it that extra definition and clean look that will have other people wondering "what is it that makes that house look so neat and clean?" Also, consider chores that might be monotonous but they do pay off, such as: power washing or merely spraying the driveway/walkways down with a hose every week, washing the front windows inside and out, etc. Anything that makes you home look more tidy from the front will add to its curb appeal.
Hopefully you have been inspired by some of these tips and head out this weekend or sometime in the near future and declare a "curb appeal day" and see how far a little money and a day of working on your home goes!
