As I promised yesterday, here are the steps to avoid the "5 Big Mistakes Home Buyers Make" that I shared with you yesterday. You could end up saving thousands by avoiding these common mistakes.
1. Ask mortgage bankers & lenders the right question to get the best loan for you based upon your needs & your financial goals.
There are numerous types of loans so do your homework and find out what is out there. It's not only a good idea to ask the lender lots of questions to find out what the best loan type might be but also do a little homework before hand. Search reputable internet sites for information about loans specific to your state/area.
2. Act quickly when you find the right house...someone else may consider it to be the right house for them and you could miss out orbe placed in a situation of multiple offers. This is especially true if the house is listed at a really good price. Although, sometimes even putting in an offer two days after a house that is "hot" and priced to movie quickly is listed, may be too late. Check with your real estate agent to find out how you can become informed of the houses that come on the market that day. For my clients I tell them to check out my website if they are really interested in finding today's new houses that just hit the market. Look for the link on the left hand side that says "New Listings" to search the most current Chico listings.
3. Be sure to package yourself & your offer in a way that looks attractive to the seller.
I always advise my buyers that if they are really serious about wanting to purchase the home to put in an offer that is attractive and what they feel comfortable paying.
4. Think resale BEFORE you buy...Is the house in a good location? Is the neighborhood nice and well kept? Is the house in a good school district, etc, etc, etc.
5. Be sure to select the right agent and/or company to help you!
Do your research and shop around. Just because you made acquaintances with a realtor at an open house you viewed does not mean you are in any way obligated to use them as your realtor. Find a realtor you feel comfortable with and that you feel will best meet your needs.
