Curb Appeal in Chico
What is curb appeal? It's that something extra special about a home that makes you smile when you see it. It's a house that is pleasing to the eye and well groomed. It shows a sense of pride and ownership in your home. If you are considering selling your home consider this fact:
By taking some simple steps to boost curb appeal you could be increasing your home's value: A Gallup survey taken in 1999 found landscaping could add 7 to 15 percent to a home's value.
Use these tips below to help create more curb appeal if you are thinking of selling your home or just feel inspired to spruce up your home and create the image you have always really wanted. Here are some simple tips for adding curb appeal that are inexpensive and easy to do.
Come up with a concept:
Figure out what it is you like about other houses curb appeal and borrow these ideas. Remember to stick to one style to keep the front of your house from looking like an eclectic mix of unfit ideas and items that clutter it. It is also a good idea to keep within the same style of the neighborhood you live in. You don't want your house to "stand out like a sore thumb" but rather raise the bar for the other neighbors in the neighborhood who may become inspired by your curb appeal and begin working on their curb appeal.
Start simple:
Begin with easy, do-it-yourself fixes such as sprucing up your front door. The front door is often the focal point of the front of your home. You can start by painting it a new color that accents the rest of the exterior paint color. A nice way to tie in the new color of a front door is to paint the trim of your home the same color.
Another idea is to plant groundcover in dirt areas in your front yard where you may have larger plants. It is more pleasing to the eye to see something with color rather than dirt.
If you have a large concrete entrance to your front door consider filling the open space with something practical and pleasing to the eye. Maybe a nice wooden bench would fit well or maybe a large potted plant in a decorative pot strategically placed by the front door.
Check back later this week and I will share some more ideas on how to inexpensively add more curb appeal to your home.
